National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF)

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) administers the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). This fund protects the accounts in 95 percent of all credit unions, including the Heritage Corridor Credit Union. Like the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, the NCUSIF has the backing of the Federal Government.

The credit union fund is the smallest of the three Federal insurance agencies but the most financially sound. The fund guarantees every cent of an insured depositors savings, up to $100,000, should the credit union fail.
